French space agency to publish UFO archive
[PRG believes this is a significant exopolitical development.  It's the "other shoe" to the 2000 COMETA report.  It represents another "message" from a foreign government to the United States that patience with the U.S. led truth embargo is short.]
PARIS (Reuters) - The French space agency is to publish its archive of UFO sightings and other phenomena online, but will keep the names of those who reported them off the site to protect them from pestering by space fanatics.    Jacques Arnould, an official at the National Space Studies Center (CNES), said the French database of around 1,600 incidents would go live in late January or mid-February.

He said the CNES had been collecting statements and documents for almost 30 years to archive and study them. "Often they are made to the Gendarmerie, which provides an official witness statement ... and some come from airline pilots," he said by telephone.

Given the success of films about visitations from outer space like "E.T.", "Close Encounters of The Third Kind" and "Independence Day", the CNES archive is likely to prove a hit.   It consists of around 6,000 reports, many relating to the same incident, filed by the public and airline professionals. Their names would not be published to protect their privacy, Arnould said.

Advances in technology over the past three decades had prompted the decision to put the archive online, he said, adding it would likely be available via the CNES website www.cnes.fr.

PRG Supporter Passes

Sadly PRG has lost another supporter from the 2002 independent congressional campaign in Maryland with the death of Jim Peters on December 14.  As reported by his friend David Lindahl, "Last April he was riding his bike from Boise, where he had been meeting with the Governor and top legislative leaders on legislation to introduce advanced technologies into the marketplace to reduce fuel consumption and pollution.  It was dark and he was on his way to a farm where he was staying about 10 miles from Boise when a guy about 25 and intoxicated swerved to the side and hit him at 55-60 mph.  He made an amazing recovery but apparently a clot from one of the surgeries caused a stroke and took him out. I never met anyone with Jim's persistence and dedication, truly an amazing guy."

That persistence enabled Jim to gather one of the largest tallies of the 5000 signatures required to get on the ballot in the 2002 election.  He was always positive, upbeat and filled with ideas for how to make things happen.   The other loss from the 2002 crew is Wesleyan graduate, Peter Morgenstern-Clarren.  Both made some history that fall and will be missed.
