    Program and Event Details

Collectively, the X-Conference speakers hold enough knowledge of government involvement with extraterrestrial phenomena and the truth embargo to end the cover-up tomorrow.   All it would take is for the political leaders and the political media to pay attention.  And yes, they have been invited, too.

Stephen Bassett -- Co-Host
is a political activist, founder of Paradigm Research Group, Executive Director of the Extraterrestrial Phenomena Political Action Committee (X-PPAC, pronounced expack), author of the Paradigm Clock website, and a political columnist, commentator and former Independent candidate for Congress.   He is the executive producer of the X-Conference.

Presently he is the only registered lobbyist in the United States representing extraterrestrial related phenomena research/activist organizations, and X-PPAC is the first political action committee to target the political implications of extraterrestrial related phenomena.  Between April 19 and November 5 of 2002 he conducted an independent candidacy in the 2002 congressional campaign in the 8th District of Maryland.  It was the first instance in which a candidate on the November ballot in a federal election openly addressed the matter of an extraterrestrial presence and the government imposed truth embargo.

On January 13 of 2003 he launched a new project, Citizen Hearing, which intends to conduct a week-long hearing in Washington, DC before former Members of the House and Senate.  The motto for this project is, "If Congress will not do its job, the people will."

Since 1996 Bassett has assisted a number of organizations and initiatives, which have been making the case for 1) an end to the government embargo on the truth surrounding an extraterrestrial presence and 2) open congressional hearings to take the testimony of former military and agency employees witness to extraterrestrial related events and evidence.  He has spoken to millions of Americans about the likelihood and implications of a formal disclosure event.

Grant Cameron (Canada)
became involved in extraterrestrial-related phenomena research in May 1975 with a personal sighting near Carman, Manitoba about 25 miles north of the Canada-US border.  Over the next 18 months hundreds of sightings were reported, and Grant spent months photographing a series of strange objects and interviewing hundreds of witnesses who were involved.  Thus began a 28 years commitment to the subject

After composing a manuscript about the 1975-76 sightings, he moved on to research the work of the legendary Wilbert B. Smith. Smith headed up the Canadian government’s flying saucer investigation known as Project Magnet, which ran from 1950 to 1954.  Over two decades Cameron was able to collect most of Smith’s files and written materials.  He interviewed most of the associates around Smith who worked on the flying saucer investigation.  He produced a CD-Rom data disk with most of the documents from the Smith files along with 12 hours of audio related to Smith's work.

During the Smith research Grant learned of the former Penn State University president Dr. Eric Walker, who was identified by Dr. Robert Sarbacher as a key person inside the Cover-up.  Cameron teamed up with T. Scott Crain to research and write UFOs, MJ-12, and the Government published by MUFON.

Cameron then turned his research interests to the relationship of U.S. Presidents to the extraterrestrial issue.  He made 13 trips to the U.S. National Archives and most of the Presidential archives looking for relevant documents.   A major contribution of his work was a FOIA submission to the White House Office of Science and Technology which yielded nearly 1,000 pages of disclosure documents from the Clinton administration.

He has lectured in Canada and the U. S. on the 1975-76 Manitoba sightings, Wilbert Smith and the president/UFO connection.   He lives in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada.

Philip Corso, Jr.
is a self-made man born into a military family in Gadsden, Alabama during World War II.    His father's  Army career took the family to Japan, Italy, Germany  and postings in the United States.    Phil Corso grew up, married twice and had a daughter and three sons.  He parlayed his talent for mechanical engineering into a career and now builds experimental aircraft and runs his company, High Speed Composites.

But his life was to take an extraordinary turn in 1997, when the senior Corso, his father, Colonel Philip J. Corso (ret.), published a memoir written with William J. Birnes (an X-Conference speaker).   That memoir, The Day after Roswell , is easily one of the most controversial and implicative books published in the 20th Century.    Now Phil, Jr. has an additional vocation - protecting, extending and validating his father's legacy.

Philip J. Corso, Sr. died in July of 1998 at the age of 83.  He had made a decision to tell his story as best he could.   He spoke eloquently about the need for the United States government to tell the American people about their world.   Now his son speaks for him.   It is a worthy vocation, the product of which may well be a paradigm change in human affairs.

Paul Davids
was executive producer and co-writer of the Showtime film “Roswell,” starring Martin Sheen and Kyle MacLachlan, nominated for a Golden Globe as Best Television Motion Picture of 1994.  Though always interested in science-fiction, the UFO issue is a matter of science fact for him, ever since a widely reported 1987 daylight sighting.  In 1996 he was guest speaker at the banquet for the 50th anniversary of the White Sands Missile Range Pioneers, where he spoke about The Roswell Incident, and he has produced numerous informational programs about UFO’s.

Paul began in television as segment producer for F. Lee Bailey’s “Lie Detector” in 1983, and then from 1985 to 1987 he served as production coordinator for about 80 episodes of the phenomenally popular “Transformers” animated TV show, most of which Rhino has released on DVD.  (He was also writer of some of the episodes).  He co-authored six Star Wars books for Lucasfilm and Bantam with his wife, Hollace, and their book “The Glove of Darth Vader” is now in its 25th printing.  His other feature film credits include:  director of “Timothy Leary’s Dead” (1997); and writer/director of “Starry Night” (Universal Pictures 2001 DVD), which has been repeatedly broadcast on Starz Cinema.  He produced and starred in the feature documentary, “The Artist and the Shaman” (2001).  His most recent project is the feature documentary, “The Sci-FIi Boys” (2003), featuring Leonard Maltin, Ray Bradbury, John Landis, Rick Baker, Roger Corman, Dennis Muren, Ray Harryhausen, Roy Thinnes and Forrest J Ackerman -- a tribute to many of the luminaries in the history of cinema science-fiction.

As for the future, RKO has contracted with Paul to direct a dramatic feature film (from a screenplay he co-wrote with Richard Hoagland).  Also of note, Paul is an accomplished artist, whose works are in major galleries, and many of which can be seen at the Paul Davids Online Art Gallery at his websites ( or

Paul earned a B.A. from Princeton University, where he won the university’s three top creative writing awards all in one year (including the F. Scott Fitzgerald Prize), and afterwards he studied under full scholarship at the American Film Institute Center for Advanced Film Studies in Los Angeles.

Richard Dolan
studied history, English, and philosophy as an undergraduate at Alfred University.  His deep passion for the discipline of history resulted in a scholarship to study at Oxford University and a near miss for a Rhodes Scholarship.  He chose instead to do graduate work at the University of Rochester, where he focused on German and Soviet studies before moving on to American Cold War diplomacy.   Not wanting to teach, he left academia to write.

In 1994 he became interested in the UFO problem, approaching it from the angle of history and politics.  He was intrigued by the cultural schizophrenia - the fact that mainstream and academic culture (official culture) continued to treat UFOs as amusement, but that so many intelligent people privately had taken it seriously.

Throughout 1995, 1996, and 1997 he conducted a systematic bibliographic search, hunting down the many out-of-print books and UFO documents released over the years through the Freedom of Information Act.  He found the amount of information nearly overwhelming.  A detailed chronology of relevant events was prepared in advance of writing his critically acclaimed book, UFOs and the National Security State: Chronology of a Coverup, 1947-1973.   This book provides the crucial foundation everyone needs: a clear, comprehensive, but concise historical narrative of the problem.  He is now at work on the study's second volume, which will take the story through the remainder of the 20th century.

Ann Druffel
has just published an important book Firestorm, a biography of scientist and extraterrestrial phenomena researcher Dr. James E. McDonald, which will be the focus of her presentation.   She began investigating sighting reports in the Southern California area in April 1957 with the National Investigations Committee on Aerial Phenomena (NICAP), which was directed by research pioneer Major Donald E. Keyhoe, USMC (Ret.). She became acquainted with Dr. James E. McDonald through his contacts with the Los Angeles NICAP Subcommittee from 1966 to 1971.  After NICAP's demise in 1970, she joined the Mutual UFO Network (MUFON) and the then newly-formed Center for UFO Studies (CUFOS.)

She has researched over 2,000 Los Angeles Basin reports, including alleged landings, photo cases, close encounters with physical effects on witnesses and terrain, alleged "abduction" reports and other extraterrestrial related phenomena.  A prolific writer, Druffel has contributed over 180 articles to numerous journals and magazines. She wrote the book How to Defend Yourself Against Alien Abductions and co-authored Tujunga Canyon Contacts with parapsychologist, D. Scott Rogo.

Druffel also free-lances in various aspects of psychic research.  From 1986 to 1991 she worked as research assistant/consultant/researcher with the Mobius Society, the Los Angeles-based parapsychology lab. She has written numerous articles on disparate psychic phenomena and authored books with famed psychic Arrnand Marcotte.

Ann lives in Pasadena, California with her husband Charles.

Stanton Friedman (Canada)
spent two years at Rutgers University in New Brunswick, New Jersey before switching to the University of Chicago in 1953.  He received BS and MS degrees in Physics from UC in 1955 and 1956, where Carl Sagan was a classmate. He worked for fourteen years as a nuclear physicist for such companies as General Electric, General Motors, Westinghouse, TRW, Aerojet General Nucleonics, and McDonnell Douglas on such advanced, highly classified, eventually canceled projects as nuclear aircraft, fission and fusion rockets, and nuclear power plants for space.

Since 1967 he has lectured on the topic Flying Saucers ARE Real at more than 600 colleges and over 100 professional groups in fifty states, nine Canadian provinces, England, Italy, Germany, Holland, France, Finland, Brazil, Australia, Korea, Mexico, Turkey, Argentina, and Israel. He has published more than 70 papers on UFOs besides his dozens of conventional articles and appeared on hundreds of radio and TV shows. These include the TNT Larry King UFO Special on Oct.1, 1994; Nightline; Sally Jessie Raphael; Unsolved Mysteries; Entertainment Tonight; Leeza; Sightings; Canada AM; Coast to Coast AM with Art Bell and many more.

Stan is the original civilian investigator of the Roswell Incident, who co-authored Crash at Corona and instigated the Unsolved Mysteries Roswell program.  He was heavily involved in both the 1979 documentary UFOs are Real and the 1993 & 1996 videos Flying Saucers Are Real.

His new interactive CD ROM, UFOs: The Real Story, was published in 1996. TOP SECRET/MAJIC (Marlowe and Co., NY, 1996), his explosive book about the Majestic 12 group established in 1947 by President Truman to deal with crashed saucers, includes classified documents never before published. It is already in its 6th printing.

Stan anchored the affirmative team in an October 1995 debate at Oxford University, This House Believes That Intelligent Alien Life Has Visited Planet Earth, garnering 60% of the member-vote. On June 27,1997 his TV Debate team got 92% of 100,000 votes called into ITV in London, England: Are Aliens visiting Earth?.  He has provided testimony to congressional hearings, appeared twice at the United Nations, and pioneered many aspects of extraterrestrial phenomena research, including the Betty Hill star map work, crashed saucers, analysis of the Delphos physical trace case, and challenges to the S.E.T.I. (Silly Effort To Investigate) cultists.  Stan has spent many weeks at a total of nineteen document archives. He has also been involved in numerous scientific research and development projects since moving to Canada in 1980.

He takes a clear-cut unambiguous stand that:

  • Some UFOs are alien spacecraft.

  • The subject of flying saucers represents a kind of Cosmic Watergate.

  • None of the anti-UFO arguments stand up to careful scrutiny.

  • We are dealing with the biggest story of the millennium.

  • Visits to planet Earth by alien spacecraft are real.

  • Cover-up by governments of the best data is happening.

  • Wreckage and bodies were recovered in New Mexico 54 years ago.

He holds dual USA and Canadian citizenship and lives in Fredericton, New Brunswick

Timothy Good (United Kingdom)
having conducted worldwide research, interviewed key witnesses and discussed the subject with astronauts, military and intelligence specialists, pilots, politicians and scientists, has established himself as a leading authority on government involvement with extraterrestrial related phenomena - the most highly classified subject on Earth.  He is easily one of the most prolific researchers and authors in the field.

He became interested in the subject in 1955 when his passion for aviation and space led him to read a book by Major Donald Keyhoe describing sightings by qualified observers such as military and civilian pilots.  In 1961, after reading a book by Captain Edward Ruppelt, a U.S. Air Force intelligence officer, he began to conduct his own research.  Since then he has amassed a wealth of evidence, including several thousand declassified documents.

Timothy Good has lectured at universities, schools and many organizations, including IBM, the Institute of Medical Laboratory Sciences, the Royal Canadian Military Institute, the Royal Geographical Society, the Royal Naval Air Reserve Branch, the House of Lords All-Party UFO Study Group and the Oxford and Cambridge Union societies.  In January of 1989 following the dissolution of the Soviet empire, he became the first extraterrestrial related phenomena researcher from the West to be interviewed on Russian television.  In May of 1998 he was invited to the Pentagon to discuss the issue at the Defense Airborne Reconnaissance Office.  He has acted as associate producer for a number of television documentaries on the subject and is known to millions around the world through numerous television and radio broadcasts.

His first book, Above Top Secret: The Worldwide UFO Cover-up (Sidgwick & Jackson, 1987) became an instant bestseller and is regarded widely as a definitive work on the subject, together with the fully revised and updated book replacing it, Beyond Top Secret: The Worldwide UFO Security Threat (Sidgwick & Jackson, 199), which remained for five weeks on the Sunday Times bestseller list.  Alien Liaison: The Ultimate Secret (Century, 1991) spent thirteen weeks on the same bestseller list.   Alien Base: Earth's Encounters with Extraterrestrials (Century, 1998) went to No. 4 on the Guardian bestseller list.  His latest book, Unearthly Disclosure: Conflicting Interests in the Control of the Extraterrestrial Intelligence (Century, 2000) was serialized in the Daily Mail.  He has also edited a number of books on the subject, including the bestselling Alien Update (Arrow, 1993).  Most of these books have a foreword by Admiral of the Fleet The Lord Hill-Norton, former Chief of the Defence Staff and Chairman of the NATO Military Committee.

Born in London in 1942, Timothy Good completed his formal education at the The King's School, Canterbury.  He is an accomplished violinist and gained a scholarship to the Royal Academy of Music where he won prizes for solo, chamber and orchestral playing.  His professional career began in 1963 with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra.  He played for fourteen years with the London Symphony Orchestra and has freelanced with the English Chamber Orchestra, London Philharmonic Orchestra, Mantovani Orchestra and Philharmonia Orchestra.

Dr. Steven Greer
is an emergency physician and former chairman of the Department of Emergency Medicine at Caldwell Memorial Hospital in North Carolina.

On May 9, 2001, Dr. Greer presided over The Disclosure Project Press Conference from the National Press Club in Washington, DC. Over 20 military, government, intelligence, and corporate witnesses presented compelling testimony regarding the existence of advanced energy and propulsion technologies sequestered in classified government black operations projects. Perhaps as many as a billion people heard of the press conference through webcast and subsequent media coverage on BBC, CNN, CNN worldwide, Voice of America, Pravda, Chinese media, and media outlets throughout Latin America. The webcast had 250,000 people waiting on line -- the largest webcast in the history of the National Press Club.

His most recent book is Disclosure: Military and Government Witnesses Reveal the Greatest Secrets in Modern History.  It contains explosive testimony from over five dozen military, government, intelligence, and corporate witnesses to events and evidence related to extraterrestrial phenomena and a government imposed truth embargo.

Dr. Greer has met with and provided briefings for senior members of government, military, and intelligence operations in the United States and around the world, including senior CIA officials, Joint Chiefs of Staff, White House staff, senior members of Congress and congressional committees, senior United Nations leadership, and diplomats and senior military officials in the United Kingdom and Europe.

He has been seen and heard by millions worldwide on the Larry King Show, CBS, the BBC, NTV in Japan and has made dozens of radio and television appearances.  He has addressed tens of thousands of people live at conferences and lectures around the world, including the international convention for MENSA, The Institute of Noetic Sciences Board of Directors and the Sierra Club.

Dr. Greer, along with his wife and four daughters, resides in Virginia.

Terry Hansen
is an independent journalist with an interest in scientific controversies and the politics of mass media. He has followed the UFO controversy for decades and has written about it for various media.  In addition, he has organized and moderated two symposiums about The Science and Politics of the UFO Research for the Science Museum of Minnesota. He has spoken about the news media's role in the UFO controversy on various national radio and television shows including Dreamland and the History Channel. Hansen holds a bachelor's degree in biology and a master's degree in science journalism, both from the University of Minnesota. He is retired from the magazine-publishing industry and now lives in the Canadian Gulf Islands with his wife Jess.

'The Missing Times' is an investigation into whether some of America's most influential news organizations, many of which have maintained close ties to the U.S. intelligence community, have willingly suppressed full and accurate news coverage of the UFO phenomenon for a variety of national-security reasons. After a case study of news coverage about UFO encounters at Montana nuclear-missile facilities, Hansen reveals the remarkable and persistent difference in UFO-related news coverage exhibited by local and national news organizations. The author then reviews the history of  censorship and propaganda during the twentieth century. He explains how and why elite news organizations work closely with government agencies during times of national crisis, and reviews the evidence for such media-government collusion over the course of the  half-century-long UFO controversy.

Paola Leopizzi Harris (Italy/Europe/Vatican)
is an Italo-American photojournalist and investigative reporter in the field of extraterrestrial related phenomena research.  She is also a widely published, free-lance writer, especially in Europe.  She has studied extraterrestrial related phenomena since 1979 and is on personal terms with many of the leading researchers in the field.  From 1980-1986 she assisted Dr. J. Allen Hynek with his UFO investigations and has interviewed many top military witnesses concerning their involvement in the government truth embargo.   She is a long time collaborator with Dr. Roberto Pinotti, Director of the Centro Ufologico Nationale (CUN).

In 1997, Ms. Harris met and interviewed Col. Philip Corso in Roswell, New Mexico and became a personal friend and confidante.  She was instrumental in having his book The Day After Roswell, for which she wrote the preface, translated into Italian.  She consequently brought Colonel Corso to Italy for the editorial group Futuro, publisher of Il Giorno Dopo Roswell, and Corso was present for many TV appearances and two conferences. She returned to Roswell in the summer of 2003 for the American debut of her book, Connecting the Dots…making sense of the UFO Phenomena, published by Granite Press.

Because of her international perspective on extraterrestrial related phenomena and her work with Dr. J. Allen Hynek, Paola has consulted with many researchers about the best avenues for  planetary disclosure with emphasis on the “big picture” and stressing the historical connection.  She is a close friend of Monsignore Padre Corrado Balducci and assisted in filming the Italian witnesses, including the Monsignore, for the Disclosure Project for the May 9, 2001 press conference.  She was instrumental in bringing to Italy Robert Dean, Dr. Steven Greer, Linda Moulton Howe, Dr. Richard Boylan, Russell Targ, Travis Walton, Derrell Sims, Helmut Lamner, Michael Lindemann, Nick Pope, Bill Hamilton, Carlos Diaz and Dr. John Mack.  Her new non-profit association, Starworks Italia, will continue to bring speakers to Italy and promote disclosure and exo-political dialogue world-wide.

Paola has been interviewed from Rome and her home in Boulder, Colorado by Jeff Rense, George Noory, Hilly Rose, Mike Murphy, Bob Hiernomous and Jim Hickman, among others, and is a regular on the Tony Gill Radio Show, American University Radio out of Springfield, Massachusetts.  She has been a speaker in many conferences in Italy, San Marino, Belgium and Germany and has appeared many times on Italian TV.   She has written for Nexus, UFO Magazine, Notizario UFO and Dossier Alieni, among others publications.

Paola lives in Rome and has a Masters degree in Education.  She teaches history and photojournalism at the American Overseas School of Rome.

Richard C. Hoagland  (Saturday/Sunday Special Event Speaker)
is a former museum space science Curator; a former NASA Consultant; and, during the historic Apollo Missions to the Moon, was science advisor to Walter Cronkite and CBS News. In the mid-1960's he created his first elaborate commemorative event -- around NASA's first historic unmanned fly-by of the planet Mars, Mariner 4.  A simultaneous all-night, transcontinental radio program the evening of the Encounter (linking the museum in Springfield, Mass., and NASA's JPL control center, in Pasadena, Ca.), co-produced by Hoagland and WTIC-Radio, in Hartford, Ct., was subsequently nominated for a Peabody Award, one of journalism's most prestigious.

In the early 1970's, Hoagland proposed to Carl Sagan (along with Eric Burgess) the placement of a message to Mankind aboard Pioneer 10 -- humanity's first unmanned probe of Jupiter; subsequent to its 1973 Jovian Encounter, celestial mechanics resulted in Pioneer 10 becoming the first artifact to successfully escape the solar system into the vast Galaxy beyond -- carrying the Plaque -- whose origins were officially acknowledged by Sagan in the prestigious journal, Science (175 [1972], 881).

In the early 1980's, based on NASA data from the more sophisticated unmanned Voyager fly-bys of the outer planets, Hoagland became the first to propose (in a widely-quoted series of UPI and AP stories on his startling paper, published in 1980 in Star & Sky Magazine) the possible existence of deep ocean life under the global ice shield perpetually surrounding the enigmatic moon of Jupiter, Europa. At the time, most (though not all) NASA scientists instantly derided this idea; two outstanding dissenters from the unfortunately then-common NASA view were Director of the Goddard Institute for Space Studies, Dr. Robert Jastrow, and well-known science writer and visionary, Arthur C. Clarke. In the sequel to his outstanding epic 2001 (2010: Odyssey Two), built entirely around this extraordinary concept of eon-old life in the ice-covered oceans of Europa, Clarke wrote:

The fascinating idea that there might be life on Europa . . . was first proposed by Richard C. Hoagland [in a 30-page article] in the magazine Star & Sky... This quite brilliant concept has been taken seriously by a number of astronomers (notably NASA's Institute for Space Studies, Dr. Robert Jastrow), and may provide one of the best motives for the projected GALILEO Mission.

In the early 1990's Hoagland led a team of volunteers and consultants in the creation of a pioneering space-age inner-city educational effort at Dunbar Senior High, just off Capitol Hill, in Washington D.C. The experiment was built around the concept of student involvement in real time' mission planning and data acquisition during various NASA planetary exploration missions, such as Hubble and the ill-fated Mars Observer. Starting as an after school extracurricular activity, and using donated state-of-the-art computer imaging equipment and enhancement algorithms, The Enterprise Mission and becoming a crew member of the 'U.S.S. Dunbar' eventually became an accredited course in the Dunbar school curriculum. Over the years, scores of senior NASA Headquarters and Goddard Space Flight Center personnel have enthusiastically participated in the project, including installation of a student satellite data link direct to NASA and on-site briefing of students on many current NASA projects. Education advocate, then First Lady Barbara Bush, personally came to Dunbar early in the project, for a personal briefing by the students; this -- the original ENTERPRISE Mission -- was ultimately nominated for a White House Point of Light award.

Since 1983, Hoagland has been leading an outside effort in a critically acclaimed independent analysis of possible intelligently-designed artifacts on NASA (and other) data sets -- beginning with the unmanned NASA VIKING mission to Mars in 1976, and its provocative images of a region called Cydonia.  Hoagland has been invited at least four times to various NASA Centers since 1988, to brief thousands of NASA scientists and engineers on the results of their on-going Cydonia investigation.  In 1989, Hoagland and his colleagues briefed then-Chairman of the House Committee on Space Science and Applications, Representative Robert Roe, on the status of their Mars Investigation.  Chairman Roe, before his sudden and unexplained resignation from the Congress, directed NASA to acquire better images from Mars during its then-upcoming Mars Observer mission; Mars Observer's equally sudden and tragic disappearance in 1993 precluded any new data relating to Cydonia. In 1993, Hoagland was awarded the International Angstrom Medal for Excellence in Science by the Angstrom Foundation in Stockholm, Sweden for that continuing research.  In the last 4 years his investigations have been quietly extended to include over 30 years of previously hidden data from NASA, Soviet, and Pentagon missions to the Moon -- with startling results.

C. B. Scott Jones, PhD
is is founder and president of the Peace and Emergency Action Coalition for Earth.  The principal function of P.E.A.C.E. is to oversee the development of the global Center for Sustainable Peace and Development system.   Previous to this he was co-founder and president of the Human Potential Foundation.  This was established in 1989, and conducted research into all conditions of humankind:  physiological, psychological and spiritual, to assist the individual to achieve the highest levels of human potential in body, mind and spirit in order to compete and cooperate at personal excellence throughout life.  Prior to this position he was Special Assistant to Senator Claiborne Pell from January 1985 until March 1991.  Retiring as a Commander in the U.S. Navy, approximately half of his thirty-year naval career was spent in intelligence service overseas and in the United States.  In post-navy careers he has taught at the university level and worked in the private sector research and development community involved in U.S. government sponsored projects for the Defense Nuclear Agency, Defense Intelligence Agency, U.S. Army Intelligence and Security Command, and other organizations.

Human Potential Foundation

In 1989, he and Senator Claiborne Pell co-founded the Human Potential Foundation that was involved in a number of research projects.  These included a joint effort with the Chinese Academy of Somatic Science in Beijing, in accelerated bone healing using qi gong; a sponsored symposium conducted by Russian medical scientists on psychoanalytical and psychocorrection computer technologies; a survey of attitudes of medical professionals toward death and the dying process and how these are translated into decisions about treatment of critical and terminal patients; the translation from Chinese of the book: Collected Works on Qi Gong Science.

Under the Center for Interspecies Communications, the Foundation conducted Projects Neptune Helper I and II, dolphin research with Atlantic Bottlenose and Spotted dolphins.

A major two-year program funded by Laurance Rockefeller was completed with an international conference, When Cosmic Cultures Meet, in Washington, D.C. in May 1995.  At the conference a wide spectrum of academic disciplines and interests assessed the implications, preparations and responses for the time when there is no ambiguity about the understanding that higher intelligences from cosmic cultures are meeting.

In November 1998, the Human Potential Foundation was dissolved and its principal undertaking, a global peace initiative, transferred to the newly established Peace and Emergency Action Coalition for Earth, Inc.

Current Programs in P.E.A.C.E. Inc.

The principal program of P.E.A.C.E. Inc is the establishment of a global system of Centers for Sustainable Peace and Development.  Over seven years of planning and consultation with academic, political, spiritual, military, intelligence and business leaders has lead to the current system design.  In November 2002, the University of Jordan announced its decision to host a Center.  Discussions with other universities around the world are under way.

A second program is a recommendation made to President George W. Bush to establish a cabinet level Peace Advisor position, and to encourage his global counterparts to do the same.

A third program is draft legislation for a federally funded international scholarship program to establish a Professional Peaceworker Corps.

A fourth program is a proposed Constitutional amendment that would additionally designate the President “the principal Peace Maker of the United States.”  This would provide a legal basis for the institutionalization of peace in the United States.

Nick Pope (United Kingdom)
has worked at the United Kingdom Ministry of Defence since 1985.  He's undertaken a series of jobs within the Department, including work in the Joint Operations Centre during the Gulf War, where he was a briefer in the Air Force Operations Room.  He was involved in work on the crises in Bosnia and Kosovo.  He is a Senior Executive Officer, which is a civilian grade equivalent to the military rank of Lieutenant Colonel.

Between 1991 and 1994, Nick was posted to a division called Secretariat (Air Staff) and given the job of researching and investigating the UFO phenomenon, mirroring the work done in the U.S. by the Air Force's Project Blue Book in the 1960's.  Although most of the cases could be explained as misidentifications of known objects and phenomena, a hard core of sightings defied any conventional explanation.  Strong evidence emerged suggesting the presence of structured craft capable of speeds and maneuvers beyond the capability of even the most advanced prototype craft operated by the Royal Air Force or the United States Air Force.

Nick's unique access to new data and previous government files convinced him the UFO phenomenon raised serious defense and national security issues.  There were numerous instances where UFOs had been tracked on radar, leading to jets being scrambled.  There were also cases with terrifying near-misses between UFOs and civilian aircraft.  All this led him to believe that an extraterrestrial explanation for some sightings could not be ruled out.

His official investigations into UFOs drew him into other mysteries such as alien abductions, crop circles and cattle mutilations.  Upon leaving the Ministry's UFO project (which continues), he continued his research and investigations privately and is now recognized as a leading researcher into both governmental and phenomenological aspects of the extraterrestrial controversy.

He has done extensive media work, including an appearance on Newsnight, one of the UK's most prestigious and serious TV news programs.  He has written for or been featured in most of the UK's national newspapers and has been interviewed on numerous radio shows, including the prestigious Today program.  Nick has lectured all around the world and spoken to various academic and military organizations.  He has discussed the UFO phenomenon at the Oxford Union, one of the world's foremost debating societies, and has acted as consultant to various television documentaries.

Thomas Van Flandern, PhD
is a controversial and exciting scientist who has set up camp on the outer perimeter of scientific understanding.  If conservative scientific orthodoxy is the problem, Tom is the cure.    He received his Ph.D. degree in Astronomy, specializing in celestial mechanics, from Yale University in 1969.   He spent 20 years at the U.S. Naval Observatory, where he became the Chief of the Celestial Mechanics Branch. In 1991, Tom formed a Washington, DC-based organization, Meta Research, to foster research into ideas not otherwise supported solely because they conflict with mainstream theories in Astronomy.  Tom is editor of the Meta Research Bulletin, which specializes in reporting anomalies and evidence that does not fit with standard theories in the field.  During the past few years, he has also been a Research Associate at the University of Maryland Physics Department in College Park, MD, and a consultant to the Army Research Laboratory in Adelphi, MD, working on improving the accuracy of the Global Positioning System (GPS).

North Atlantic Books is the publisher of Tom's 1993 book, Dark Matter, Missing Planets and New Comets.  A second edition was published in 1999.  As with his research papers, the book is critical of many standard models in astronomy, such as the Oort Cloud, the Dirty Snowball, and the Big Bang theory.  Tom also organizes the Eclipse Edge Expeditions to optimal solar eclipse viewing sites.

During his career as a professional research astronomer, Tom has been honored by a prize from the Gravity Research Foundation; served on the Council of American Astronomical Society's Division on Dynamical Astronomy; taught astronomy at the University of South Florida and to Navy Department employees; been a consultant to NASA's Jet Propulsion Lab; and done several spots for the "Project Universe" series that continues to air occasionally on public TV.
