We need to have disclosure on UFO's and the real situation on the topic. Many people know they are real and the government is lying about the UFO knowledge of them. If we could talk openly about the situation we could really accomplish so much in so many fields. Other countries admit they have people who see them and the governments have information on the UFO's but the US denies any knowledge of UFO's. Other countries are not in a panic what makes the US government think the other countries are better then we are and that we will panic when other countries don't?

ipsedixit 1/14/2009 10:34 PM	Our taxes are paying for the research involved in the potentially most wonderful or catyclismic body of knowledge available to the human race. We are entitled to know what information has been garnered by our government. If it is being withheld because of the expressed possible panic evoked when/if this knowledge becomes public because it may either be so frightening on its face, or be perceived to undermine many basic religious beliefs, then our government is defying the basic principles on which our democracy was founded. Good or bad...I want to know!
joe843 1/14/2009 10:40 PM	There will never be full disclosure. For one thing there is no such hard evidence to prove these so called beings exist. Personally, I believe there is intelligent life out there. However, there is no proof we have been visited by imaginary beings. IF there was any evidence held by the government.....it would be considered a National Security issue and could never be unclassified. Also ,even if a little green man appeared on CNN the government would just call him or her an undocumented citizen from an unknown location.......the government can not, will not, must not fully disclose if there is anything for them to disclose anyways.
allcio 1/14/2009 10:42 PM	With our society aiming to be more progressive, the most "progressive" way to deal with this issue is just to disclose that yes, we have seen UFO's and other extra-terrestrial evidences. Other countries who are American allies have allowed disclosure, and we can see that it hasn't been detrimental to them. Disclosure helps to create an avenue for acceptable scientific research and theory and also gives enthusiasts the validation that they have been seeking for over 60 + years.

And for the sake of security I have to throw out my bottle of water before boarding a plane? Something is amiss here. I personally have seen UFO twice now...I don't know what this is all about, but I think my tax dollars should be used for security and that includes the unidentified. Many credible people including police and senators have seen these things why are we ignoring it?

France nor China nor even Iran or Russia will ever fully disclose. This is one area where the governments of the world will stick together. Again, there has never been any hard evidence to prove we have been visited. So me a craft and the body of the alien.

joe843 1/14/2009 10:51 PM	Also a lot of so called "UFOs" are actually just classified government aircraft. They can't comment on these because in some cases they may or may not exist (well you know....not supposed to exist or they would have to account for the money being spent on them).

Public opinion polls show that a majority of us believe the government is deliberately withholding information on UFO's (apparent aerial vehicles). Declassified documents and documents which escaped classification show a complex history of US military encounters in the 1950's and later. What was all this all about? Opening up the classified files (if you can locate them) and releasing participants form their oaths of perpetual secrecy would go a long way toward reducing citizen cynicism about the federal government activities in general.

Frankie1429 1/15/2009 12:06 AM	There have been too many reported sightings by reputable people to say UFOs don't exist. I personally saw one in the 70's and it made me a believer instantly. Nothing on this Earth is capable of doing what I saw this 'object' do. Its time the government discloses what most of us already know or, at least, suspect.

Unfortunately, as the US is seen as the 'leader' of the 'free' world, I feel that it should be setting an example to other nations, who are bound to follow suite. We all know there are extraterrestrials out there (and, quite honestly, we should be rejoicing at that, not trying to cover it all up) and that they are visiting earth, interacting with our populace and are in cahoots with certain top-level secret societies. Mindman 1/15/2009 3:06 AM	NASA is about to announce that there is biological life on Mars in the form of methane producing microbes. There are 2 primary generators of methane. Volcanic activity, and biological life. Mars is not volcanically active. The Roman Catholic church, bastion of conservatism and orthodoxy has declared aliens as our brothers under God, and that the existence of alien life is not inconsistent with Catholic belief. Poll after Poll demonstrate that the overwhelming majority of Americans believe that UFOs are real, and that some represent life on other planets. It truly is time for the government to "come clean" with what it knows about UFO's and their occupants. Our Society can handle it now. President Obama's progressive thinking gives me great hope that he will authorize release of this information. We CAN handle the truth.

maso 1/15/2009 4:14 AM	UFO means unidentified flying object and not necessarily unidentified extraterrestrial craft (I believe most ufo's are our terrestrial technology). If our government is capable of producing these objects (imagine how huge the budgets for these projects must be), they need to share technology with the citizens of the US. If some disclosure was to take place it could mean a whole new techno-economy. I realize that full disclosure of the technology could be potentially dangerous for national security. However, those in charge of the information are aware of how to proceed and cover themselves in the process. That is their trademark. Full disclosure would shake things up worldwide and make much of the petty issues that we deal with every day totally pointless. Would there be serious upheaval in the day to day actions of our species? Absolutely. But the time for that upheaval and awakening is just what is needed. Our world needs a serious kick in the butt to progress into a better race. If we can not be provided with the evidence from the past, we can at a minimum insure a complete and thorough understanding for future generations to examine. For once, I'd like to see an executive administration that becomes involved in this area. As humans, we are all in this together forever. Let us concentrate on a unified and educated group to address this issue unlike the failures of some many previous administrations. Previous Presidents have given lip service only. That's the American way. Not this "Weenie" posture the Government has taken for the last 60 years (at least). Even if those of you in Government office don't have the Cajones to face reality at least give the rest of us a chance to see what's frightened you "Weenies" so much. We would like to know instead of all of the cover-ups we've heard. The swamp gas one was really far out. I have seen a UFO (sparker-type GREEN...long...huge...very weird...1975...out of the passenger side of my car. My wife was driving. I happened to look out my right passenger window and could believe what I saw. I had her stop right away and we got out to look. It sped off into the distance, flew UP at a fantastic pace and it was gone. I'll never forget it. That was 34 years ago. There are so many strange sightings around the world and if our government has any inside information about it, I think we NEED to know.

Kora 1/16/2009 7:41 PM	In the last 10 years I had several UFO experiences. These encounters confirmed my belief in UFOs. Now, UFOs are seen all over the place. People are afraid to come forward. I think they are scared. I think UFO activity will continue to increase and no one will be able to cover it up. We have to accept the fact that aliens are here to stay and there is nothing you can do about it. Our government should reveal the hidden documents.
richmanwisco 1/16/2009 8:22 PM	There seem to be stories of literally hundreds of UFO and other alien life events. Yet, there is not one single shred of physical evidence to support ANY of them. I echo what an earlier commenter said, that if we had captured and exploited alien technology, then why are we still using petroleum fueled engines to get around and why are we still sending rockets into space with basically the same technology we've been using for the last 45 years? If aliens were visiting us, don't you think they would have landed? Perhaps left their ships and made some kind of contact with people on the ground? Instead all we hear about are fleeting glimpses and stories of dead cattle in the field. They traveled all this way to Earth just for a good steak? I am convinced that intelligent life exists, even in our own galaxy. I am also convinced that they have not visited the earth. We are separated by far too much distance to make any bridging practical.

We have worse problems in this society such as all the war we create in the minds of people to keep them distracted such as abortion, gay rights, drug wars, and call them gangs or religious groups, other side (democratic or republican.) What is really being hidden from us? This is the peoples government and we have the right to know something. Makes you wonder who really rules! wake up and demand the truth. I hope OBAMA does listen to us the people, and he gets the truth out.... Will he do it? I doubt it. Clinton tried, and he got told nothing... We can't trust people who keep things this big from us.
gottliebmd 1/18/2009 7:59 AM	Dear Mr. President-Elect, I am a psychiatrist and psychoanalyst who happens also to have witnessed UFOs on several occasions since age 9 (always with other witnesses, always definitely intelligently controlled and artificially produced craft). These included two classic disc-shaped objects and one large boomerang-shaped craft (among others). These were not astronomical, meteorological or aeronautical bodies or other natural or man-made objects. Having directly witnessed these objects has raised my awareness and stimulated my interest in reading about the subject. I learned that I am one of many scientifically trained people who have taken the time to study the history of the UFO phenomenon. We know that the five scientific studies available to date show that up to 20% of sightings are genuine intelligently controlled craft that are not man-made and are unexplainable as other prosaic phenomena. We also understand that before the Air Force began to minimize the phenomenon and ridicule witnesses, many - including numerous F-94 pilots scrambled to identify and try to force them down in 1952 & 1953 - believed they were likely of extraterrestrial origin. We know that the government's real research into the subject thereafter has been done by the intelligence community rather than by the Air Force and that its findings remain classified. We also know that until the Air Force used the 1969 Condon Committee report as a justification to close its public investigation (Project Blue Book), the public increasingly demanded answers to what they were seeing (and still do, but are afraid of being ridiculed). Finally we understand that other world governments continue to take the phenomenon very seriously and that several have recently declassified their UFO research. As Commander-in-Chief you will be making very difficult decisions ahead. You will need to prioritize how you attend to the country's needs and will be weighing factors most U.S. citizens will never know. However despite the need for the U.S. to maintain secrecy about some subjects in order to maintain its security, many of us believe it is time to declassify all UFO information so the general public - the majority of which has been shown in polls to already believe in UFOs representing an extraterrestrial presence - can more consciously and openly process the facts. Complete disclosure has the potential to further your agenda of promoting peace in the world by showing we have a common need to unify as a species. This is no longer the 1950s. The public has collectively thought about our place in the natural universe through thousands of books, movies and TV shows. There will no longer be a "War of the Worlds" panic. But even if extraterrestrial knowledge does scare many, it is less likely to do so in the long run if the public has time to process these ideas out in the open. So in my opinion at this point full disclosure will more likely prevent, rather than cause a panic as predicted by the Robertson Panel Report in 1953. All it takes is a little common sense concerning the true vastness of the universe to realize the sheer unlikelihood of that ASSUMPTION being true. As for their presence on this planet...Ask the countless witnesses of UFO's. Ask for the countless testimonies of abductees. Ask for an answer that actually makes sense and adds up from the government (weather balloons my ass)! Ask all the ex-government/CIA/etc. folks from the Disclosure project! Enough said. Vote for truth.
