They are just scientifically explicable phenomena that the observer lacks sufficient data to explain. Why not focus on real problems rather than imaginary ones?

It contains 18 pages of photographs taken in the area of Jefferson City, MO. over a span of about five years. These photos show approximately 100 UFOs. Most of which are at roof top level and only a few dozen feet or yards from the camera. Just take a look and read about my experiences. All of this is totally free to anyone who has access to a computer and can read. You don't even have to join a club or register. I am not trying to sell anything. charles000 1/14/2009 5:48 PM	I am not a UFO enthusiast, I have nothing at all to do with any of the organizations representing this topic, and for many years I essentially wrote this topic off as a sort of sci-fi fad - until recently. I have seen, personally, along with other witnesses, formations of round or perhaps oval shaped metallic objects, performing maneuvers in the evening sky that could not possibly been performed with "traditional" aircraft. These objects were clearly under some form of intelligent control, made no sound, and there were no contrails, wings, engine nacelles, or any other indicator that would normally be associated with military or commercial aircraft. To suggest that what myself and several other witnesses saw was "swamp gas" or the planet Venus, or any of the other "usual" explanations often offered by the Air Force, or mainstream media, would be absurd. Speaking for myself, I have a 30+ year technical background, having worked at the national labs at Berkeley and Los Alamos for a decade, followed by 20+ years in the private sector, often working on military and defense related projects. Included in the collection of fellow witnesses who have seen these very same objects performing these maneuvers are a pilot with 5000+ hours of logged flight time, various engineers and technical specialists with many years of professional experience similar to mine, and others including active and retired university faculty. The bottom line is this: Whatever or whoever is traveling through our skies, we citizens have a right to know what this is. The "swamp gas and Venus" explanations simply aren't working, At this point, no one believes what the Air Force and NASA have offered as their usual explanation for these phenomena. To say that their credibility on these matters is at an all time low would be a profound understatement. Let me clarify this as precisely as possible: I am not a UFO promoter, I have nothing to do with the various UFO organizations, but I do know what myself and others have seen. Various governments around the world are beginning to take this topic very seriously, often as the result of their own military organizations providing indisputable evidence that something "unusual" is occurring in their skies. I respectfully suggest that it's time for the USA to step up to the plate, explain to the public what has been observed, and allow evidence collected over the past several decades to be examined by the scientific community. To not do so is to relegate the USA to a position of rapidly decreasing relevance and credibility, as the rest of the industrialized nations of the world proceed, no longer confined to US policy on these matters. This is the 21st century, but the USA seems to have chosen to remain mired in a 1950's mentality on this topic, while the rest of the world is progressing along in this arena without us,
mizzkitteee 1/14/2009 6:02 PM	With everything else going on I feel it's time the government or 'who/whatever' comes clean and gives the people straight answers. We had better pull together and to do that we need some honesty. Hiding information simply is not a good idea any longer. You have to give respect to earn respect...right now, there is not much to respect with regards to our elected officials. If there is some 'other group' hiding this information from the President holding office...it might be wise to flush them out!

Whitley Strieber 1/14/2009 9:12 PM	It is long past time for the fact that something strange and unexplained, at least to the public, is appearing in our skies and, for many of us, also in our lives. Even if no more is done than that the existence of this unknown is honestly acknowledged by the official world, science can engage with the vast wealth of information that is already available in the form of imagery, witness reports, possible debris and other objects, and many other areas, and begin to form a clearer idea of who is here and what they are doing. In addition, the National Academy of Sciences must not only end its prohibition on granting and thus research into the UFO phenomenon, it must dignify such research as an urgent priority, on behalf not only of the American people, but all mankind and, most especially, our children and those as yet unborn.
bryceh1 1/14/2009 9:33 PM	Some consideration should be given that the government is puzzled to death as to what to do with this phenomenon, thus complicating disclosure of the reality of UFO's with the even more frightening disclosure that they cannot provide a coherent explanation for their existence. That being said they must soon realize there is great benefit to bringing the topic to the general public, where the great and free thinkers of our day can provide deeper insight than what has been gathered in, what I imagine is, a very compartmentalized and secretive organization(s). Dudes, let it out man!
Talon 1/14/2009 9:54 PM	Dear Mr. President ; It is time for at least enough disclosure to be released on the subject of UFOs to provide the public with the evidence that alien races are visiting this planet. And that all of them are not friendly or have our best interests at heart. Sometime within the next three years it will become absolutely necessary in the interest of public safety for this to take place. If not, it may mean the deaths of many of this planets inhabitants unnecessarily. It is definitely time for the people of this planet to realize that we are not alone and there is more out in space than just stars and planets.

windowarea 1/14/2009 10:26 PM	A few posts previously made have bravely suggested the idea that UFOs represent a true anomalous phenomenon, but have responsibly not called it "extraterrestrial" in nature because, frankly, no one can prove it. No one knows what the phenomenon of UFOs represents. The best minds on the subject do not treat it as a political cause, nor are they offended at the presentation of alternate theories or critical thinking that strongly suggest a non-fantastic explanation for some aspects of the UFO experience. The best minds just want to understand. The UFO community is in love with the UFO myth, but do not seem to care about the actual UFO phenomenon, probably because in the back of their heads they fear ultimate disappointment that UFOs just might not be what they think they are. I'm sure the government has a treasure trove of incredibly valuable DATA, but actual answers to the questions? I would be surprised. If the Obama administration does not produce UFO information, instead of the UFO community continuing to pound its fists on the hangar door that may or may not hold what everyone dearly rests their entire world view on, they should repair the dysfunctional dialog on the subject and demand the respect that might then facilitate data being shared. More Hyneks are needed. No reason to ever mutter the word "Disclosure" again. That won't produce anything but snickers and rolled eyes. How much does everyone REALLY care about this subject? How bad do you want it? Are you ready to shake your own tree?

There will come a time when so many people witness something in the skies that the government simply will not be able to deny it. The limits were being pushed with the Phoenix lights back in 1997. No one bought the air force excuses then, and no one will in the future. Honesty is the best policy, and frankly I think it would be best for the government to release what we know and acknowledge their existence before they do it for you. Blame the lies and cove-rups on past administrations and begin a new one with the policy of truth. Thank you.

I believe we can, this country has moved forward for over two centuries facing the unknown and braving challenges to be the best the world has to offer. Lovebird 1/14/2009 10:44 PM	As a contactee, I would like all information about UFOs and extraterrestrials made public rather than aggressive investigations of people who report contact, as happened to me. The Air Force denies interest in UFOs and their inhabitants. Don't believe it. They are very interested and have been filming them from fighter jets since we developed cockpit cameras to go in them. The films should be made public and people other than those with Q clearance, for clues to engineering the propulsion system, should be allowed to see them.

dims1 1/14/2009 10:50 PM	I have had at least three sightings of strange craft during my teenage years, one of which involved a spectacular sighting of a fleet of silent, black craft over the city of Sheffield, England. I have also had at least two close encounter experiences involving non human entities. I believe that it is high time that governments all over the world stopped denying the existence of life eliminating from elsewhere in the universe and gave credibility to the thousands of eye witnesses who have experiences like mine.

fisse 1/14/2009 11:15 PM	The UFO encounter experienced by a number of military personal stationed in Europe in Dec. 1980, needs to be looked into. There is a number of seemingly reliable witnesses the governments seemingly intentional cover-up is at the root of my growing distrust for our government, and opens my mind up to other potential conspiracy that I otherwise wouldn't think twice about.

With the governments of other nations ponying up, and revealing what they have on record about the UFO phenomenon, the leaders of the United States should do the right thing and offer up the reality of what it knows about this subject. Surely we aren't naive enough to believe that they would "give it all up", but the least they could do is be honest that they know something is happening that thtey have been keeping from the public, whatever that may be.

We all know this is happening, and has been happening for decades (at least!), but the lack of openness and honesty on behalf of the US and other world governments has meant that real research has been stigmatized and humanity is so much the poorer for it. Why is it, then, that the eye witness accounts, numbering in the tens of thousands, over hundreds of years plus photographic, radar, and trace evidence concerning UFOs (especially during the past sixty-some years) is not taken seriously enough to conduct honest, government sponsored investigations? I believe, as do millions of others, that the issue of UFO Disclosure be fully exposed and I also believe that it is an issue of National Security. I do not know if the strange craft seen performing aerial maneuvers beyond the ability of known aircraft in our atmosphere are, indeed, inhabited. I do not know of their intentions or meaning, if any. I do not know whether the Government of the United States of America is withholding evidence as to the identity of these craft or not. I do know, however, that these questions concern me greatly. I also know that a new day, a new awakening, a new age of openness is emerging throughout the world. "Behold! Old things have gone away; all things are become new." The official disclosure of/or investigation into this phenomenon must be lead by the United States. I understand a need for secrecy and national security with prototype flying machines the military has. However, if the government were to disclose its knowledge and work to the better of mankind from what they have, then perhaps the American people might believe them and not laugh when we are handed some ridiculous explanation to a sighting that is obviously an unknown. marika 1/15/2009 10:27 AM	Having followed this subject closely for years, there is quite a bit of evidence that UFO's and visitors from other planets, dimensions and parallel realities have visited us. The problem has been that there has been flat-out denial from the government and military and to top that off they laugh and snicker at anyone who believes or knows otherwise. To date there has been no real investigation, only the "spinning" of evidence. If you look at what's been put out in our realities as real, you'll notice we don't really face things as a species. We live on credit, which is borrowed money and not really ours, to buy things so that we look wealthy...but aren't. We buy houses and cars we can't afford, again to create an impression that isn't real. We watch television that creates a fantasy world that's more interesting than our mundane lives. We work at jobs we hate so that we can have what we call a "good" life...but is it? And we have done the same thing with UFO's and beings from elsewhere, we've created a "snicker-factor" that makes people afraid to believe that those things don't exist because they've been shamed by authorities and others. THE TIME FOR CHANGE IS NOW! We have to get real in every area of our lives, including looking with "real eyes" (or real-eyes-ation) at what is going on. To start with there are people who have been abducted by spacecraft and have implants. Many of those implants move when trying to be surgerically removed. Those can be seen on x-rays and have been seen in surgery. There are markings and anamolus electrical readings where spacecraft have landed. There are cows and other animals that have been seen to be lifted through the air and then returned to Earth mutiliated in ways that are inexplicable. There is concrete evidence but what needs to change is the government and military being able to get "real" with us. I, for one, would love to live in a world that deals with TRUTH. So far they have done a pretty good job of cover-ups and misinformation. We must all stick together for the truth, no matter how unpalatable this may be. We, the people deserve the truth.

Anyone remotely familiar with just these few cases knows how ridiculous the government’s official position is: The 1967 case at Malmstrom AFB where a UFO was spotted above underground command and control centers and nearly 20 Nike missiles went off-line The 1976 case where an Iranian jet chased a UFO over Tehran, Iran ; two Iranian F-4’s tried to intercept the UFO and just as they were about to get within striking distance the jets lost all communications and fire control abilities. When they returned to base, these systems came back on line The 1980 Rendlesham Forest case where an ET vehicle landed next to RAF Woodbridge and a team of USAF men actually walked around the craft and touched it; it was seen by 100s of our men at the base (see attached Col. I've spent a lot of time watching TV and DVD's to see and hear what people have actually witnessed. This is a range from normal folks to policeman to pilots and military people. Why should they lie about what they have seen? And, at this point, why should hidden information not be revealed. Things hover with no movement and now sound. Then they can move away at incredible fast speeds and at angles that we seem to be incapable of. I believe that, although we are intelligent, we've been around for about 30 thousand years on a planet that's like 4.5 billion years old. In a universe that's been around way longer than that, I believe there is something that is more intelligent than we are...I want to meet them!

Just this one fact alone should convince you that something is going on in secret: our government refuses to say ANYTHING substantive about this phenomenon. Nothing, ZIP, zero, nada... that alone should tell you they're hiding it big-time. Otherwise there would have to be at least SOME kind of intelligent attempt at an explanation. But NOOOOO, they just play deaf, dumb and blind, just hoping the curious will go away or give up. In their defense I would have to agree that disclosure is likely to create a certain amount of panic in some circles. Plus think of how the technology could help humanity. How many people know of these things but can't talk about it because of fear of their life or those of there family and that is wrong. I think the only reason they do it is because of the fear that they will lose control of the people, and would made humans go crazy. But i think that we can handle it and that the time is now.

The fact that there is a mountain of literature and documentation examining this very real phenomenon by highly qualified researchers and countless credible witness testimony is, incredibly, still dismissed out of hand by the status quo. The absurd days of blaming swamp gas, the planet Venus, optical illusions or mass hallucination as the explanation for most witness sightings of UFOs are well and truly over. Of course, many sightings can be attributed as mundane and earthly in origin. Yet there remains a compelling if small percentage of UFO sightings that cannot be explained away and discounted so readily, that are genuinely unknown in nature and cause for scientific investigation. It is unscientific not to take the subject seriously. At this critical juncture for humanity and our planet, it is important to now disclose this subject for the benefit of us all. That there are non-human or trans-dimensional intelligences visiting here since pre-history is the most important event for humankind on so many levels. Watch this space.

This initial policy of secrecy has created a blueprint, a template, that has spread like a cancer in our government and others. Today we see blanket government policies and tactics of secrecy, denial, and ridicule for anything that the government does not want the public to know about. This is a great disservice to the people of America and the world, and has served as a barrier, keeping people in the dark. No more. It is well past time for the official policy of secrecy to end. I have heard and read that our government has been struggling with how to achieve public disclosure while minimizing trauma to our society. I have noticed that slowly and gradually, ridicule of UFO news and events has been waning in the media, almost as if we are being prepared for the truth. TV shows and specials are filled with less ridicule and debunking efforts. I believe most people are ready and can handle the truth without it causing mass panic, chaos, or a major societal disruption. We are as ready as we are ever going to be. If Barack Obama really wants to make a positive change in the world, public disclosure of the existence of nonhuman intelligence would be a HUGE step towards that. And we want nothing less than complete and full disclosure of all data pertaining to this phenomenon. richmanwisco 1/16/2009 8:23 PM	There seem to be stories of literally hundreds of UFO and other alien life events. Yet, there is not one single shred of physical evidence to support ANY of them. I echo what an earlier commenter said, that if we had captured and exploited alien technology, then why are we still using petroleum fueled engines to get around and why are we still sending rockets into space with basically the same technology we've been using for the last 45 years? If aliens were visiting us, don't you think they would have landed? Perhaps left their ships and made some kind of contact with people on the ground? Instead all we hear about are fleeting glimpses and stories of dead cattle in the field. They traveled all this way to Earth just for a good steak? I am convinced that intelligent life exists, even in our own galaxy. I am also convinced that they have not visited the earth. We are separated by far too much distance to make any bridging practical.

What was then obvious became beyond obvious in ensuing years. The public won't panic if the government admits the truth. We will still have our problems of war, disease, death, and destruction to contend with. Perhaps the notion that civilizations which have overcome the problems of time and space must have also overcome the practice of self-destruction will nudge us toward constructive pursuits rather than war. Those who see profit in death-dealing will resist, but the new administration has the opportunity to overcome that and end the stupidity of the ongoing official secrecy on ufo matters.

At the time, I was beginning to believe in the phenomenon, but I wasn’t 100% convinced until I saw one in broad daylight. Still, this did not convince me; however, what did convince me was that I began being harassed and threatened once I began speaking out about these experiences, and I am still being harassed to this day. These harassments have been widely reported in the media (and also widely debunked), but please know that they are real. Texas rancher Ricky Sorrells was harassed last year following a UFO sighting, and this was reported in the Stephenville Empire-Tribune by staff writer Angelina Joiner. Ms. Joiner was also harassed, due to her article, and she was quickly fired from the Tribune. Whitley Strieber is also being harassed. The question is, Mr. President…if UFOs are not real, then why the harassments? fencerb4 1/17/2009 4:36 PM	Unidentified Flying Objects - Many people impose there own views when people mention the sighting of a UFO. A lot of times these peoples views are combative, belligerent and sometimes degrading sarcastic comments. But these people who have never seen something like this have no clue what someone may have seen. I don't understand how they think this tiny spec of dust in the universe called Earth could be the only basket of intelligent life in the immense universe. When I was 12 I was picking blueberries and eating them in the field across from my Grandfather's farm in Barnstead New Hampshire, when I looked up at the horizon and saw a craft. This craft flew over to me from a distance very fast and hovered about 50 feet above tree level. This craft stopped over me and hovered over me for about 10 to 15 minutes. This UFO was huge, about the size of a large High School and it made no noise what so ever. It was metallic grey looking and the shape of a spade from a card deck. I gazed upon it for about 10 minutes or perhaps more time don't quite remember, then it just left and took off fast. At that point I ran out of the field to tell my parents and I told them what I had seen. Humans don't build flying craft this big and our crafts make noise, this one made no noise at all. This craft was very large, extremely fast and very silent. I know what I saw and it has never left my memory. People who have not seen these items should listen in a cooperative manner due to never seeing anything like this. These things exist and we are not the only intelligent life in the Universe. There were no lights and I saw this in broad daylight. I know sometimes people create a hoax but not all sighting are a hoax even though the Federal government keeps things like this a secret from us. After being in the Air Force for four years and seeing tons of flights I still have never ever seen anything like this since that day when I was 12. It is impossible to think we are the only intelligent life in the Universe we are but a tiny rock off the jetty in a giant ocean of debris called the Universe.

Something of this sort has already been done by the governments of Brazil and France.

Those in the know also risk letting this civilization fall, when they have within their power technology hundreds of years ahead of its time, that can rejuvenate this world and end the uncertainty and misery for billions. If, as is likely the case, we obtained much of our modern technology via contact with extraterrestrial life forms via the incident at Roswell in 1947--perhaps we need to utilize & develop more of this technology for higher purposes such as clean energy & healing our planet and it's residents.
